Velunda is a journal. What you write in it belongs to you, and the app is built so that we never see it.
What we collect
Nothing. Velunda has no account, no server of its own, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party code. We don’t receive, store or sell any information about you or what you write.
Where your journal is kept
- On your device. Your entries, categories, history and settings are stored on your iPhone or iPad, protected by iOS Data Protection.
- In your own iCloud, if you use it. If you’re signed in to iCloud, Velunda keeps your journal in sync through your own private iCloud. Everything you write is end-to-end encrypted with keys in your iCloud Keychain: we can’t read it, and neither can Apple. You can turn this off for Velunda in the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, under iCloud.
When you sign out of iCloud or switch accounts, Velunda removes its copy from the device only once everything has reached iCloud. If anything hasn’t, your journal stays on the device until you sign in again.
Reminders, the widget and app lock
- Reminders are scheduled on your device and never contain anything you wrote. They are off unless you turn them on.
- The widget shows only the day’s question or the evening’s invitation, never anything you wrote.
- The app lock uses Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode through Apple’s own system. Velunda never sees your face, fingerprint or passcode.
Exports and the book of the year
Exports, backups and the book of the year are made on your device. They leave it only if you share or save them somewhere yourself.
Purchases
Unlocking Velunda is a purchase through the App Store. Apple handles the payment: we never see your card, your Apple Account or your name. The app only asks the App Store whether Velunda is unlocked on your account.
Deleting your data
- Delete an entry and it moves to Recently Deleted for 30 days, then it is erased from all your devices. You can erase it sooner from there.
- In Velunda, Settings > Delete Everything erases your whole journal from this device and, if you use it, from iCloud.
- Deleting the app removes its data from that device. To remove the iCloud copy as well, manage your iCloud storage in the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Children
Velunda doesn’t collect information from anyone, including children.
